Mt. Vernon’s boys track team traveled to SIU this weekend to compete in an indoor meet.
There were no team scores, but the Rams had several top 10 finishers.
Joseph McDaniel finished fourth in the pole vault with a leap of 12 feet six inches. Nic Meyer had a personal best in the shot put with a throw of 44 feet six inches. He placed 10th.
Robert Grider was ninth in the 60 meter dash with a time of 7.35 seconds. The 3,200 meter relay team of Jake Wilson, David Modert, Brykell Patton and Ethan Badger was fifth with a time of 8:41.26. The 800 meter relay team of Steve Boss, DeMontez Miller-Grey, Crayton Turner and Grider finished fourth with a time of 1:37.11. Boss was fourth in the 400 meters with a time of 53.66 seconds. Teammate Ethan Badger placed ninth in a time of 56.10 seconds. Karson Hahn finished third in the 800 meters in a time of 2:00.93.
Grider also placed sixth in a time of 24.09 seconds in the 200 meters. Modert was sixth in the 1,600 meters. He finished in a time of 4:39.11. The 1,600 meter relay team of Miller-Grey, Patton, Karson Hahn and Boss were third in a time of 3:37.78.
