SESSER —
Waltonville’s boys basketball team beat Johnston City 60-57 Saturday morning to advance to the fifth-place game at the Sesser-Valier Holiday Tournament.
Trey Witges and Jordan Hale both had 20 points to lead the Spartans. Derrick Whisenant added 13, and Austin Zahm had five.
Waltonville lost to Christopher 47-39 in Friday night’s quarterfinal. Witges led the Spartans with 12 points.
Waltonville faces New Athens at 10:30 a.m. today.
