Offense fuels Rams win

MARION —  

Mt. Vernon raced to a 78-53 victory over Salem on Wednesday night in the Pyramid Plus Tournament.

Trevor Flota led Mt. Vernon with 28 points. Jake Pike added 17. Travis Mitchell was also in double figures with 12.

The Rams took a 40-30 lead into halftime and extended its advantage in the third quarter.

Mt. Vernon is 2-1 this season and finishes tournament play with Friday’s game against Collinsville. The matchup starts at 6:30 p.m.
