BELLEVILLE (AP) — A man newly convicted of a 2007 southwestern Illinois shooting death faces at least 45 years in prison when sentenced next month.
The Belleville News-Democrat (http://bit.ly/11pCIam) reports a St. Clair County jury has found 28-year-old Kenny Wicks guilty of first-degree murder.
Authorities say Wicks fatally shot 20-year-old James Rogers Jr. in the neck in June 2007 after going to the victim’s Cahokia apartment to rob him.
Two co-defendants who prosecutors say have cooperated with investigators are expected to plead guilty to charges of attempted armed robbery.
Wicks’ sentencing hearing is scheduled for March 7.
