ROCKFORD (AP) — State officials say a $4 million grant will help renovate three Rockford entertainment venues.
The Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity said Wednesday that it awarded the grant to Rockford Area Venues and Entertainment, known as RAVE. The money will support a variety of renovation projects at the BMO Harris Bank Center, Davis Memorial Festival Park and the Coronado Performing Arts Center.
RAVE Chairman Mike Dunn says the upgrades should help attract more high-profile acts and that entertainment venues play a crucial role in economic development in the Rockford area.
The grant is part of the state's $31 billion capital construction program.
Gov. Pat Quinn says the funding will create jobs and benefit the arts to help “make our state an even better place to live and work.”
