SPRINGFIELD (AP) — A Union Pacific executive has been appointed to the board of directors for the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library Foundation.
Board officials named Robert W. Turner to the post last month. He'll serve a three-year term.
Turner has been the senior vice president of corporate relations for the railroad company since 2000. His duties there include internal and external communications, public affairs and overseeing corporate philanthropy. He also heads the Union Pacific Railroad Museum.
Wayne Whalen is the chairman of the board of the Lincoln Library. In a news release this week, he says Turner is a successful businessman and his knowledge of Lincoln's railroading activities will be great additions to the board.
Turner has a bachelor's degree in economics from Hiram College in Ohio.
