CARBONDALE (AP) — Bond is set at $1 million for a man accused in the shooting death of a 20-year-old former Marion High School football standout.
Twenty-five-year-old Kely Arbuckle of Murphysboro is charged with first-degree murder and aggravated discharge of a firearm. He still was being sought late Tuesday. Messages were left Wednesday with Carbondale police.
Jackson County Coroner Thomas Kupferer says Toren Stanley died Saturday night at a Carbondale hospital. The coroner says Stanley was shot earlier that day.
Stanley graduated in 2011 from Marion High School, where he played football and ran track.
WSIL-TV reports Arbuckle last year was charged with aggravated use of a weapon, unlawful gun possession and resisting an officer. He pleaded guilty to the resistance charge, but the other counts were dropped because of an uncooperative witness.
