ALTON (AP) — A museum exhibit recognizing the contributions of African Americans in southwest Illinois is now on display.
It's called Museum en Black.
The exhibit is open daily until Saturday at the Alton Square Mall. It's free to the public.
The (Alton)Telegraph reports (http://bit.ly/Y7owuE) that the exhibit includes paintings, photographs and family heirlooms, such as quilts and records.
Organizer Randi Randolph calls it an "educational journey" and says it's a chance to bring the community together.
