  • The Jefferson County University of Illinois Extension has started its first special interest 4-H club at Woodlawn Grade School. The SPIN club is under the direction of 4-H leader and Woodlawn Grade School teacher Charlie Simer, who along with students in fourth and fifth grades, have formed a Robotics Club. The Illinois 4-H Foundation and U of I Extension have purchased two Lego Robotics Mindstorm kits which will be available for loan to 4-H clubs. Third grade students at Bluford Grade School proudly display a “check” for $1,900 to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. K-12 students at Bluford’s schools have been collecting loose change the last three weeks to raise money for the hospital.
