MT. VERNON — —
Kell Fire Protection District responded to a car/bus accident on Illinois Route 37, north of Dix at about 3:45 p.m. Tuesday afternoon. According to Chief Lonnie McDaneld, the driver of the car was taken to Good Samaritan Regional Health Center for treatment of shoulder injuries. Two children on the Rome Grade School bus complained of minor injuries, however all students were being seen by emergency medical technicians. All parents of students on the bus at the time of the accident were notified, McDaneld said. Jefferson County Sheriff's Office deputies, Litton Ambulance and Jefferson Fire Protection District were on the scene.

Ina students have Happy Feet
Students from Ina Grade School make laps around the outside of the baseball diamond on Friday, part of the Happy Feet Walk-A-Thon to raise funds for the Happy Feet program to provide school children with gym shoes. The entire school participated in the event.
